Rural Asset Finance

About Solution

Founded in 2010, Rent to Own (RTO) is a for-profit social enterprise that provides high-impact assets to micro-entrepreneurs and smallholder farmers in rural Zambia. What the RTO founders saw that their are a lot of rural entrepreneurs and rural small scale farmers that have the capacity to grow their business but don't have access to the right equipment or the financing to afford this equipment they need to grow their business.

RTO aims to solve this challenge for them. Our mission is to "unlock the potential of rural entrepreneurs and improve the livelihoods of their families and communities".RTO does so by offering an “all-in-one” package of uncollateralized financing, delivery, installation, and equipment training, empowering its clients to grow their businesses and improve their quality of life. RTO’s flexible, tech-enabled platform can quickly bring new technologies to market and enable the rapid adoption of innovative assets in underserved markets.

We believe access to technologies like solar irrigation pumps for small scale farmers will help them thrive, grow their farm, increase their yields and improve their livelihoods. We see ourselves as a solution for our customers by providing them with access to productive use equipment and financing to buy this, as well as for manufacturers of new and existing technologies and equipment by providing a route to market through our platform, agent network and ability to provide financing to our customers.

Our goal is to reach 1,000,000 customers by 2025.
